Bernedoodle Puppies for Sale

Bernedoodle prices can vary greatly and depend on several factors, including the breeder’s reputation, the generation of the Bernedoodle puppies, size and geographic location. On average, you can expect to pay anywhere from $1,500 to $5,000 or more for a Bernedoodle. Factors such as coat color and markings can also influence the price.

Our Irish Golden Bernedoodles are $3,900. Our prices reflect the quality of our breeding, and the price is the same regardless of the puppy’s expected adult size, gender or color. We offer $200 back to our puppies’ families in the form of a rebate. To qualify for the rebate, the puppy needs to be trained in basic obedience so that it can pass the AKC’s basic obedience certification, the Canine Good Citizen test (CGC Certification).

Bernedoodle puppies from parents with no genetic testing, no OFA hip, elbow, heart or eye testing and a minimal health warranty may be as cheap as $500-$1,500. While staying within a budget is wise, the cheapest Bernedoodle puppy available is cheap for a reason and can quickly become very expensive when it starts to have health issues. One example would be a debilitating disease such as hip or elbow dysplasia, which could result in costly surgeries to reverse the disease symptoms.

When looking for a Bernedoodle for sale, it’s crucial to do thorough research on potential breeders and choose reputable and responsible breeders who prioritize the health and well-being of their dogs. A reputable breeder can lower the risk of these types of diagnoses by breeding only quality, health-tested parents like we do at Sunshine Acres. It has been our family’s priority from the first day we started raising puppies in 2001 to be a responsible and careful breeder. Making sound decisions based on science to breed healthy puppies is our commitment.

The adult size of a Bernedoodle varies depending on factors such as the generation (F1, F1B, etc.) and the size of the parents (standard, miniature, or toy). Typically a puppy will grow to an adult weight that will fall between the size of its parents’ weights, or up to 10 pounds larger. Generally, Bernedoodles come in three main size categories:

• Standard Bernedoodles: Typically range from 23 to 29 inches in height at the shoulder, and their weight can vary from 70 to 90 pounds or more.
• Miniature Bernedoodles or Moyen Bernedodoodles: Usually stand between 18 to 22 inches tall at the shoulder, with a weight range of 25 to 49 pounds
• Toy Bernedoodles: The smallest variety, with a height usually under 18 inches and a weight of around 10 to 24 pounds

Our Poodle dads fall between 30 and 40 pounds, so this will be the smallest size of our puppies. Our Bernese Mountain Dog-Golden Retriever-Irish Setter mix mothers fall between 55 and 70 pounds. Our largest Irish Golden Mountain Doodle puppies will grow to about 85 pounds as adults.

Genetics play a significant role, and there can be some variation even within the same litter. When comparing littermates to each other, usually the smaller puppies in a litter grow to the size of the smaller parent. The larger puppies in the litter grow to the size of the larger parent, or up to 10 pounds heavier than the larger parent. If a puppy or two in a litter are outliers compared to their siblings in size/weight, they could also be an outlier in adult weight compared to their parents’ weights.

The average Bernedoodle lifespan is about 12-13 years. Some will live up to 15 or 16 years, but this is not as common. Good preventative vet care, adequate daily exercise and quality food are necessary for your puppy’s health and happiness. The most important aspect of your puppy’s longevity is its parents’ health and genetic background. A good breeder will check their puppies’ parents for all of the below:

• Hip Evaluation (OFA or PennHip)
• Elbow Evaluation (OFA or PennHip)
• Cardiac Exam
• Ophthalmologist Evaluation
• Von Willebrand’s Disease, DNA Test
• Degenerative Myelopathy, DNA Test
• Progressive Retinal Atrophy, DNA Test

Remember that each dog is unique, and some Bernedoodles may exceed or fall below the average lifespan. By offering a loving and supportive environment, you can enhance the quality of life for your Bernedoodle puppy.

Bernedoodles are not considered to be truly hypoallergenic. Only a small number of purebred breeds, like a purebred poodle for example, fall in this category since they are always non-shedding and dander-free. However, Bernedoodles are often considered hypoallergenic to some extent. Hypoallergenic refers to a lower likelihood of triggering allergies, especially those related to dog dander or shedding.

Some Bernedoodles shed, while some do not. It all depends on the genetics of the lines they come from. Our F1 Bernedoodle puppies or Irish Golden Mountain Doodle puppies usually do not shed. If a puppy has a risk of having a shedding type of coat, this is noticeable when they are a young puppy. Since we have been raising Doodle puppies for over 20 years, through experience we can tell which puppies may be at risk of having a low-shedding coat type rather than the usual non-shedding coat type. We have selectively bred for a non-shedding coat type and rarely have shedding coats in our puppies.
